My participation in the NAO Performing Festival marked a significant milestone in the development of Simbolica-mente.. The project was initially chosen for a dedicated artistic residency phase at DIDstudio, a crucial incubation period that allowed for the refinement of the piece's technical and choreographic language. Following this residency, the work was officially selected by the curatorial board to be presented as part of the main festival program.
The NAO Performing Festival is a premier platform dedicated to contemporary performance, investigating new languages of the body and visual culture. This year's edition was particularly focused on the intersection of humanity and technology, a theme deeply resonant with my research into the subconscious and digital identity.
In a world that forces us to identify with the material, Simbolica-mente. acts as a "reminder". It challenges the audience to look beyond the mask of their daily identity and recognize that the journey to "individuation"—the harmony between the conscious and unconscious—is the ultimate adventure
Being part of this lineup placed my work in dialogue with leading international figures in the avant-garde scene. Notably, the festival program included Neil Harbisson, the world’s first legally recognized cyborg artist. Sharing a platform with such visionary artists validated the direction of my work—where movement meets technology—and provided a prestigious stage to debut the finalized version of the performance.
Sharing a platform with such visionary figures underscores the direction of my current research: the intersection of organic movement, technology, and the evolution of human identity. This opportunity allowed me to bring my work from the concept phase to a fully realized stage production, engaging with an audience on the complexities of the subconscious mind.
